U.S. gold mine production was 19,300 kilograms in September, on late Monday the U.S. Geological Survey said.

September’s production was 5% under the look over August output of 20,400 kilograms. September production was a little down from the past year output of 19,600 kilograms.

USGS said, the average daily output rate in September was 664 kilograms of gold, according to unrounded data. This compares to August’s average daily rate of 658 kilograms, and the 2012 average of 641 kilograms.

Canada Stocks

On Tuesday, Canada’s main stock index started higher, supported by an increase in major gold miners as the price of bullion hit a 3-week high, whereas energy companies as well assisted the increase.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index increased 12.43 points, (0.09%), at 13,325.21 shortly after the open.
